Indianapolis, Ind. – The University of Findlay wrestling team traveled to the University of Indianapolis on Friday, Jan. 17 for a dual against the no. 19 Greyhounds. The Roughnecks led through six bouts, but came up on the short end of a 29-13 final.
Freshman Wyatt Nemitz got things started at 125 and would use a takedown and near fall in the second period to help earn an 8-3 decision. At 133, senior Ashton Anderson also earned a comfortable lead midway through the contest and went on to an 8-3 win.
At 157, senior Gary Nilson had a first period takedown and a second period escape to pick up a 4-0 lead. That was all he would need as the Macomb, Mich. native would go on to a 5-3 decision.
Findlay's final win of the evening came at 165 pounds where Andrew Knick got an early takedown to seize control of his match against Shane Bates. An escape and another takedown in the second put Knick ahead 7-0. A third takedown in the final frame, combined with a point for riding time, gave Knick a commanding 11-1 major decision.
UIndy would go on to win the final four bouts of the evening, however, to take the match.
Findlay is back in action tomorrow, Jan. 18 for a dual with McKendree in Lebanon, Illinois.
