Roughnecks Finish Fourth at G-MAC Championship | Bodiu Wins Individual Title

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay wrestling team played host to the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Championship on Saturday, Jan. 25. The event took place in the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Findlay.
Findlay scored 61.5 points on the day and record a fourth-place finish for a second consecutive year after claiming the title back in 2023. The Roughnecks had four athletes earn a podium finish including one champion, two runners-up, and one third place finisher.

Junior Giulian Bodiu, who claimed third in last year's conference tournament, would not be denied in 2025 and showed from the beginning of the day, he was on a mission. To open the even, Bodiu needed just 11 seconds to pin his opponent, winning by fall over Gavin Falk of Davenport. In his second-round bout, Bodiu trailed 4-1 through two periods, but dominated in the third using an escape, a takedown, and a nearfall to earn a 9-5 win against Elisha Baldridge of Ashland, earning a trip to the championship contest. Taking on Wyatt Bailey from Ashland, Bodiu had no issue, taking a 4-0 lead through two periods before recording another takedown at the end of the match, ultimately earning an 8-1 victory to earn his first G-MAC individual title.

Senior Ashton Anderson, ranked 15th in the country, received a bye in the first round of the 133-pound bracket before earning an 8-4 win in the semifinal. Taking on Max Shore (Tiffin), ranked third in DII, in the championship bout, Anderson was defeated 8-0, finishing runner-up in the tournament.

Findlay had a pair of placers at 149-pounds as junior Cade Cass earned a runner-up finish and sophomore Conner Kleinberg took third.

Cass began his day with a dominating 18-1 tech fall victory over Hunter Isaacs of Thomas More. He followed that up with a 4-2 victory in the semifinal, sending him to the championship match. In the title bout, Cass was defeated by Ashland's Hayden Kuhn.

Kleinberg was a 4-0 winner in his opening round before suffering a defeat in the quarterfinal. A 5-1 decision in the consolation bracket was followed by a medical forfeit, sending Kleinberg into the third-place match. Kleinberg dominated, using a takedown and nearfall to open up a 7-0 lead. He would cruise to an 8-3 win, earning third.

For their top-two finishes, Bodiu, Anderson, and Cass each earned all-G-MAC honors; Bodiu with a first team honor and Anderson and Cass each with second-team.
