Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay wrestling team was in action for a second-consecutive day on Saturday, Feb. 15, playing hosting to no. 6 Grand Valley State University. The Roughnecks came up just shy, falling by a score of 29-21.

Freshman Wyatt Nemitz got things started with a win at 125 pounds. Trailing 6-5 through two periods, Nemitz used an escape and a takedown in the final frame to secure a 9-6 victory, putting UF on top.

Findlay extended its' lead at 133 pounds when senior Ashton Anderson picked up a tech fall win, shutting out his opponent 17-0 to earn five points for his team.

GVSU scored the next 11 points, including a forfeit by Findlay, but a win at 157 by senior Gary Nilson tied the bout up at 11-11. Nilson blanked his opponent 4-0, earning three points in the first period via a takedown.

Grad senior Andrew Knick had a pair of takedowns and a nearfall in the first period en route to a 15-3 major decision at 165 pounds, but a forfeit at 174 by UF and back-to-back pins for GVSU at 184 and 197, respectively, ended the bout.

GV would forfeit the heavyweight bout.

Findlay now turns its' attention to the postseason and will return to action on Saturday, March 1 in Tiffin, Ohio for the NCAA DII Super Regional.
