Allendale, Mich. — The University of Findlay women's golf team teed off on Monday, September 15, in the Folds of Honor Challenge at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University. The 54-hole tournament serves as the qualifying event for the prestigious Folds of Honor Collegiate, which the Oilers participated in last week.
This competition features one of the deepest fields of the Division II women's golf week, highlighted by several nationally ranked programs in the WGCA poll, including No. 1 Dallas Baptist University, No. 4 University of Findlay, No. 8 West Texas A&M University, and No. 11 Grand Valley State University.
Starting on the 10
th tee, the Oilers opened with a steady back nine before all four counting players posted under-par scores on the front side.
Junior
Ashleigh Duflo delivered a strong performance in tournament play, who fired a 3-under-par 68
to pace the Oilers. Duflo's steady play, with matching nines of 34, put her at the top of the individual leaderboard.
Close behind, senior teammates
Hayley Dye and
Ellie Yeazell each posted even-par 71s. Dye carded an even par 36 on her first 9 and a one-under 35 on her finishing nine, while Yeazell closed with a three-under 33 on the outward side to secure her place in the round.
Sophomore
Gracie James contributed a steady 73 (+2), highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 sixth hole. Freshman
Emma Myers, making her debut in the Oiler lineup, rounded out the team scoring with a 74 (+3) in her opening round.

Paige Weiss recorded an 81 (+10) and junior
Audrey Keplar finished with an 82 (+11)

The Oilers will return to action on Tuesday, September 16, for the second round, with tee times beginning at 1:20 p.m.
