Allendale, Mich. — The University of Findlay women's golf team continued play on Tuesday, September 16, in the Folds of Honor Challenge at The Meadows at Grand Valley State University. The 54-hole tournament serves as the qualifying event for the prestigious Folds of Honor Collegiate, which the Oilers participated in last week.
This competition features one of the deepest fields of the Division II women's golf week, highlighted by several nationally ranked programs in the WGCA poll, including No. 1 Dallas Baptist University, No. 4 University of Findlay, No. 8 West Texas A&M University, and No. 11 Grand Valley State University.
Senior
Ellie Yeazell set the pace for the Oilers with a standout performance, carding a 68 (-3) that featured three eagles on each of the three par fives. Fellow senior
Hayley Dye followed with a steady round of 72 (+1), highlighted by five birdies and no score worse than bogey.
Junior
Ashleigh Duflo contributed a solid round of 73 (+2), while sophomore
Gracie James added a 74 (+3) to round out the team's scoring. Freshman
Emma Myers completed the lineup with an 80 (+9).
In individual play, freshman
Paige Weiss turned in a 76 (+5) and junior
Audrey Keplar posted a 78 (+7).
The Oilers hold a 28-stroke advantage over second-place Grand Valley State Lakers heading into the final 18 holes of competition.
The Oilers will return to action to finish the final round on Wednesday, September 17, with tee times beginning at 8:50 am.
