Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay wrestling team put together a hard-fought effort on Sunday, January 18 but ultimately fell 26-17 to visiting McKendree University which is ranked eighth in Division II.

The Roughnecks got a win at 125 from senior Billy Smith, ranked no. 9 in the country. Smith used reversals in the first and second period to secure a 4-0 decision.

One of the day's biggest highlights came at 141 lbs, where grad senior Ashton Anderson made a return to the lineup. Wrestling for the first time in a month, Anderson beat the first period buzzer, defeating his opponent by fall in 2:49.

At 149 lbs, sophomore Micah Cottrell delivered one of the most dominant showings of the day, piling on takedowns in a 13-1 major decision that kept the Roughnecks within striking distance on the team scoreboard.

Findlay's last win of the afternoon came at heavyweight where senior Giulian Bodiu, ranked tenth in Division II, won his fifth consecutive bout of the season, grinding out a 9-1 decision.

The Roughnecks will be back on the mat for a dual at Davenport on Saturday, January 24.
