Findlay, Ohio - History was made at the heavyweight division on Friday night as the University of Findlay wrestling team dominated Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) foe Lake Erie College, winning nine of ten bouts in a 40-2 victory. Lake Erie's result of two points came as a result of losing a point due to unsportsmanlike conduct after the bout at 165 pounds.

While the team performance was nearly flawless, the night belonged to senior heavyweight #10 Giulian Bodiu. In the final match of the evening, Bodiu pinned Lake Erie's Tyler Shellenbarger at the 4:13 mark. The victory marked Bodiu's 16th pin of the season, breaking the program's single-season pin record of 15, which was set by Paul Perrine back in 1992.

The Roughnecks wasted no time getting on the board. At 125 pounds, #10 Billy Smith set the tone immediately, securing a fall over Braden Hahlen in 5:37 to give Findlay a quick 6-0 lead. Nate Knowlton followed up at 133 pounds, controlling Anthony Sagaris for a 10-2 major decision.

After a narrow loss at 141 pounds, Findlay rattled off seven consecutive victories to close out the dual.

Micah Cottrell got the Roughnecks back in the win column at 149 pounds with a hard-fought 7-4 decision. At 157 pounds, AJ Parish provided the second fall of the night for the home team, pinning Josh Howey in the second period (3:50). #11 Gary Nilson kept the momentum rolling at 165 pounds with a tactical 5-1 decision over Authur Croom, whose antics following the dual cost his team a point.

The upper weights were a showcase of dominance for Findlay, as the Roughnecks secured three consecutive major decisions from 174 to 197 pounds. Donavyn Watts shut out Marky Stankorb 12-0, Chase Stein defeated Vincent Scaramuzzino 10-1, and Ronnie Thomas nearly secured a tech fall before settling for an 11-2 major decision over Joey Scaramuzzino.

The night concluded with Bodiu's record-breaking performance, putting an exclamation point on a 40-2 team victory.

Saturday's dual was the final of the year for the Roughnecks who now look to the NCAA DII Regional which will be hosted in Findlay on Feb. 28.
