#9 Findlay Secures G-MAC Regular Season Title with Win at Tiffin

Tiffin, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's tennis team, ranked ninth in the country, delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, April 18, defeating Tiffin University with a decisive 4-1 victory. With the win, Findlay secured the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) regular season title as they conclude the league slate with a perfect 9-0 record and improve to 17-1 on the year. Meanwhile, Tiffin falls to 13-9 on the season and 7-2 in G-MAC play.

The Oilers gained an early advantage by securing the doubles point to start the match with a 1-0 lead. While the top flight faced a tough challenge and fell 6-3, Findlay found the necessary wins in the remaining two positions to clinch the point. Senior Ivanova Lucero and junior Valentina Salek provided a spark at the No. 2 spot, putting on a clinic in a 6-2 victory. The pressure then shifted to the No. 3 pairing of sophomore Polina Zaytseva and freshman Maria Batinic, who rose to the occasion with a focused 6-4 win to guarantee the Oilers the early lead heading into singles play.

In singles action, Findlay showed great resilience to reach the four points required for the team victory. Although Tiffin managed to take a point at the top spot to briefly level the score, the Oilers responded with three consecutive straight-set victories to shut the door on the Dragons. Zaytseva regained the lead for Findlay with a sharp 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 4, followed shortly by Lucero's efficient 6-2, 6-3 triumph at the No. 6 position. The match was officially clinched by senior Audrey Ouellet at No. 5 singles, who delivered a 6-3, 6-1 victory to end the contest. The remaining matches at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots were abandoned once the Oilers reached the clinching point, finalizing the 4-1 scoreline.

The Oilers will return to action at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Tournament, set for April 23–25 in Owensboro, Ky.
