Men's Tennis Gets Back in the Win Column at TMU

Crestview Hills, Ky. - The No. ranked University of Findlay men's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on the road, sweeping Thomas More University 7-0 in a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup on Friday, April 3 at the Five Seasons Family Sports Club.

The Oilers had to fight back early after dropping the first completed doubles match. Thomas More's Raphael Delente and Magnus Hauska took the No. 1 flight over Clement Andrieu and Grant Hawkins, 6-2. However, Findlay responded with clutch performances at the remaining flights to secure the doubles point. Nicolo Lippolis and Aleksander Ivancevic leveled the playing field with a 6-3 victory over Samuel Mimbrero Lendinez and Camille Le Guellec at the No. 3 spot. Matthis Veniard and Soh Kuyama then clinched the 1-0 advantage for the Oilers by defeating Bernat Coll Ballester and Reggie Bechtel 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.

With the momentum in their favor, the Oilers rolled through singles play, capturing all six flights to complete the sweep.

Soh Kuyama led the charge at the top flight, defeating Raphael Delente 6-4, 6-3. Clement Andrieu was highly efficient at No. 2 singles, dispatching Magnus Hauska 6-1, 6-2. Matthis Veniard nearly matched that scoreline at the No. 3 spot, taking down Camille Le Guellec 6-2, 6-1.

The most dramatic match of the evening came at No. 4 singles. After dropping the opening set, Runa Kagoshima battled back to force a 10-point match tiebreaker, eventually outlasting Bernat Coll Ballester 3-6, 6-3, [12-10].

Aleksander Ivancevic fought through a tight first set before running away with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Tammo Kreiser at the No. 5 flight. Nicolo Lippolis rounded out the flawless day for Findlay with a solid 6-2, 6-4 win against Jaume Boucher at No. 6 singles.
