Allendale, Mich. – The University of Findlay men's golf team opened its 2026-27 season on Monday, September 14, competing in the first two rounds of the Midwest/Central Regional Preview hosted by Grand Valley State University at The Meadows. The Oilers carded a two-round team score of 597 (+29) on the par-71 course and will conclude the three-round tournament on Tuesday.
Findlay opened the tournament with a team score of 304 (+20) before improving by 11 strokes in the second round, posting a 293 (+9).
Senior
Colin Schadek led the Oilers through 36 holes, carding rounds of 76 (+5) and 71 (E) to sit at +5 and tied for 30th overall. His second-round 71 was Findlay's lowest individual score of the day.
Cahle Roth followed with a pair of 74s (+3), finishing the day at +6 and tied for 38th. Sophomore
Luke Siefker also posted consistent rounds, shooting 75 (+4) in both rounds to finish at +8 and tied for 46th.
Cody Widener made one of the biggest improvements from round one to round two, dropping six strokes from a 79 (+8) to a 73 (+2). Widener finished the day at +10 and tied for 60th.
Carson Foltz rounded out the Oilers' team lineup, shooting 81 (+10) in the opening round and 82 (+11) in the second round to finish at +21.
As a team, Findlay improved by 11 strokes between rounds, moving from 304 (+20) to 293 (+9) in the second round.
Findlay also had two individuals competing outside of the team lineup in
Ross Dietz and
Sawyer O'Grady.
Dietz put together a strong second round, firing a 70 (-1) after opening with a 75 (+4). His two-round total of 145 (+3) placed him tied for 18th overall entering Tuesday's final round.
O'Grady carded a pair of 74s (+3), finishing the opening two rounds with a 148 (+6). He enters the final round tied for 38th overall.
The Oilers will be back in action tomorrow, September 15 for the final round of the event.
