Peru, Ind. - The University of Findlay men's golf team sits in third place out of 18 teams through two rounds of play at the Midwest Collegiate hosted by the University of Missouri-St. Louis at Rock Hollow Golf Club. Rounds one and two were played on Monday, Sep. 28.

Maryville University and Grand Valley State University are in first place, just six strokes ahead of Findlay. GVSU is the top-ranked team in the field, sitting at No. 3 in the latest Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) poll.

The Oilers carded a hot first-round score of 284 (-4) and then fired a 289 (+1) in the second round on the par-72 course to bring their 36-hole total to 573 (-3).

Junior Cahle Roth leads the tournament field after putting together two dominant rounds. Roth posted matching 4-under 68s in both the first and second rounds, making a total of ten birdies, to take sole possession of first place with an 8-under total of 136 which is tied for the third-lowest 36-hole score in program history.

Sophomore Ross Dietz resides tied for 11th overall at 1-under (143) after opening with a 3-under 69 and adding a 74 (+2) in the second round. Sophomore Luke Siefker posted rounds of 72 (E) and 76 (+4) to sit tied for 36th at +4 (148).

Junior Cody Widener shaved a stroke off his opening score, carding a second-round 74 (+2) following his initial 75 (+3) to tie for 41st at +5 (149). Senior Colin Schadek trimmed four strokes off his first-round score, posting a 1-over 73 in round two to move into a tie for 51st at +6 (150).

Competing as an individual, Tate Armstrong delivered the lowest single round of the tournament for the Oilers. Armstrong rebounded from a first-round 74 (+2) by firing a 5-under 67 in round two, surging into a tie for sixth place overall at 3-under (141).

Individual competitor Carson Foltz recorded matching rounds of 78 (+6) to end the two rounds tied for 80th overall at +12 (156).

The third and final round will start at 9:00 am local time on Tuesday, Sep. 29.
