Eric Wymer is in his sixth season as cross country head coach and eighth as a track and field assistant in 2025-26.
During his tenure at Findlay through 2025, Wymer has coached 32 All-Conference honorees, nine All-Midwest Region selections, five National Qualifiers, and two All-Americans. His resume also includes three G-MAC Runners of the Year and a 28th-place finish by the men’s team at the 2024 NCAA DII National Championships.
The 2024 season was an historic season for the men's program. Wymer guided the men to an appearance at the NCAA Division II National Championship, where the team placed 28th overall. The men also finished second at the G-MAC Championship, while the women’s team earned a fourth-place conference finish. Individually, Noah Fisher captured All-American honors and was named G-MAC Runner of the Year. Two athletes earned All-Midwest Region recognition, and four were named All-G-MAC. The women’s squad saw three athletes earn All-Conference honors and concluded the season with an appearance at the Midwest Regional.
Wymer led the Oilers to a successful 2023 season. The women's team took fourth at the G-MAC Championship, their highest finish at a conference championship since 2007 and the highest G-MAC finish in program history. Wymer also led the men's squad to a sixth place finish at the G-MAC Championship with two athletes earning first team all-conference. Wymer then guided both Noah Fisher and Jordan Foster to the NCAA DII National Championships, the second consecutive year that Findlay has made an appearance at the event.
During the 2021 season, Wymer led the the men to a sixth place finish at the G-MAC Championship. He guided Noah Fisher to the G-MAC Individual title, Conference Runner of the Year and the first conference champion in program history. Wymer also coached Fisher to a school record in the 8K at the Royals Challenge in Charlotte with a time of 23:45.9 and the 10K at the NCAA DII Midwest Regional with a time of 30:30. Wymer also led the women to a fifth place finish at the G-MAC Championship. He guided Gabrielle Lawrence to a school record in the 6K at the NCAA DII Midwest Regional with a time of 21:29. Wymer led both Fisher and Lawrence to the NCAA DII National Championships, Fisher was the first men's runner in program history to compete at the national championship in the DII era while Lawrence's appearance at the event marks the first time a women's runner had qualified since 2006.
During the 2020 season, Wymer led both teams to a fifth place finish at the G-MAC Championship. The year before in 2019, Wymer guided the women to a fifth place finish and the men to a ninth place finish at the conference meet.
Prior to arriving at Findlay, Wymer spent two years as a graduate assistant at Malone University where he helped coach the men's and women's cross country teams to second and third place finishes, respectively, at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) meet in 2017.
Wymer graduated from Ohio Northern University in 2016 where he was a first team all-conference performer and helped lead the Polar Bears to a league championship in his senior season.
