#1 Oilers Calm Storm 84-55

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, jumped out to a big first half lead and never looked back as they cruised to an 84-55 victory at home over Lake Erie College on Tuesday, November 25. The win gives the Oilers a 3-0 record on the season and also marked the 300th time head coach Ron Niekamp has come out victorious during his 24 year tenure in Croy Gymnasium.

As a team, the Oilers hit a season-high 51.8 percent (29-of-56) of their field goal attempts and held the Storm to a mere 39.0 percent (16-of-41) shooting clip during the game.

Findlay also out-rebounded Lake Erie 37-26 with 15 of their 37 rebounds coming off of the offensive glass.

Individually, senior forward Josh Bostic led the way with 21 points, eight rebounds and five assists. He connected on 6-of-13 field goal attempts and canned 8-of-10 attempts from the charity stripe.

Senior forward Morgan Lewis also played well, scoring 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go along with six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Sophomore guard Nathan Hyde and senior center Lee Roberts added 13 and 11 points respectively while junior guard Marcus Parker registered nine points, six assists and a pair of steals.

The Storm were led by Rick Leasure's 13 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on December 4 when they open Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play at home against Saginaw Valley State University. The contest is scheduled to tip-off at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
