Box Score The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, defeated Ferris State University 83-60 on Sunday, December 14 in Big Rapids, Michigan. The victory gives the Oilers a 7-0 record on the season with a 4-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
The Oilers got off to a great start, jumping out to a 24-5 lead at the 13:22 mark of the first half. Findlay went on a 18-0 run to capture the big lead which was capped off by a three pointer from senior forward Josh Bostic before the Bulldogs' Justin Keenan stopped the bleeding with a lay-up to make the score 25-7 with 12:52 showing on the clock.
Findlay would then cruise through the rest of the opening half, holding a 42-27 advantage at the break.
The second half was much of the same as the Oilers connected on 68.4 percent (13-of-19) of their field goal attempts in the period to race away with the victory.
As a team, Findlay hit a season-high 59.6 percent (28-of-47) of their attempts from the floor and drilled 50.0 percent (8-of-16) of their three point tries. They also forced the Bulldogs into 18 turnovers and out-rebounded them 33-25.
Bostic led the way with 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting while senior forward Morgan Lewis contributed a season-high 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals in the win.
Senior center Lee Roberts added a double-double with 11 points and ten rebounds while sophomore guard Nathan Hyde and senior guard Tyler Evans tallied 11 points apiece.
Junior guard Marcus Parker also chipped in seven points and eight assists during the win.
Ferris State was led by Justin Keenan's 16 points.
The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, December 18 when they travel to Hillsdale, Michigan to take on Hillsdale College at 8:00 p.m.
