Box Score The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked first in the National Association of Basketball (NABC) poll, defeated Ashland University 84-65 on Saturday, January 24 in Ashland, Ohio. The win gives the Oilers a 16-0 record on the year with a 12-0 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).
The Oilers, who held a slim 38-36 lead at the break, dominated the Eagles in the second half as they out-scored them 46-29 to take control of the game.
As a team, Findlay shot 54.7 percent (29-of-53) from the floor and hit 12-of-22 (54.5%) of their three point tries. The Oilers really had their stroke going from long distance in the second half as they connected on 9-of-14 (64.3%) shots from three.
Individually, sophomore guard Nathan Hyde hit all five of his three point attempts and both of his free throw shots for a team-high 17 points.
Senior center Lee Roberts added 15 points and eight rebounds while senior forward Josh Bostic had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Junior guard Marcus Parker also played well after scoring 11 points to go along with six assists while senior forward Morgan Lewis chipped in ten points and four boards.
The Eagles were led by Kale Richardson and Bret Wackerly who contributed 20 and 18 points respectively.
The Oilers will be back in action again on January 27 when they host Central State University in a non-conference contest beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Croy Gymnasium.
