Big 1st Half Propels Oilers To Win Over Northwood

The University of Findlay men's basketball team jumped out to a 45-18 lead at the half and then cruised the rest of the way as they defeated Northwood University 73-60 on Saturday, January 9 in Croy Gymnasium. The win gives the Oilers a 10-3 record on the season with a 6-2 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

As a team, Findlay shot 44.1 percent (26-of-59) from the floor and drilled 8-of-21 (38.1%) of their three point attempts. They also pounded Northwood on the glass, out-rebounding them 42-29 in the win.

Senior guard Marcus Parker scored a game-high 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting to lead the way.

Junior forward Tyler Sparks added 13 points and a career-high 13 rebounds while also making three assists.

Freshman forward Jack Smith came off the bench to produce ten points and five rebounds while junior guard Nathan Hyde had eight points, four steals and three rebounds in the victory.

The Timberwolves were led by Lionel Sullivan's 16 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, January 14 when they face Northern Michigan University at 7:30 p.m. in Marquette, Michigan.
