Lakers Snap #19 Oilers 13-Game Winning Streak

The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 19th in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) poll, had their 13-game winning streak snapped by Grand Valley State University as they fell 69-55 on Thursday, February 4 in Allendale, Michigan.

Down 28-26 at the half, the Oilers quickly gained the lead when junior guard Nathan Hyde connected on a triple during the first minute of the second period. The lead was short-lived however as the Lakers regained their lead and added to it, taking a 13-point lead before the halfway point of the final half.

Grand Valley State then controlled the rest of the contest as they snapped a 5-game losing streak to Findlay.

The Lakers punished Findlay in the paint, out-scoring them 40-18 during the game and also forced 20 turnovers which led to 28 points for Grand Valley State.

As a team, the Oilers shot 46.2 percent (18-of-39) from the floor while Grand Valley State connected on 54.5 percent (24-of-44) of their shots.

Hyde and junior forward Tyler Sparks led Findlay with 14 points and five rebounds apiece while freshman guard Aaron Robinson added nine.

The Lakers were led by Justin Ringler's 15 points.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Saturday when they face Ferris State University at 2:00 p.m. in Big Rapids, Michigan.
