Oilers Slay Dragons, Win 50-27

The University of Findlay football team captured their first win under head coach Rob Keys on Saturday, September 17 as they defeated Tiffin University 50-27 at Donnell Stadium.  The victory gives the Oilers a 1-2 record on the season with a 1-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The Oilers got their running game going early and often as they piled up 358 yards on the ground.  They also went over 500 yards in total offense for the game, racking up 503 yards in the win.

Junior running back Monterae Williams had 19 carries for 149 yards and two scores while sophomore back Ray Ballard put up 115 yards and a score on 15 carries.

Red-shirt sophomore running back Zach Kinninger had 12 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown while junior quarterback Clay Belton carries ten times for 23 yards and a score.

Belton also finished 10-of-20 through the air for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Sophomore wide receiver Seth White led the squad with four catches for 39 yards while sophomore tight end Jaryd Brown and freshman receiver Harold Jones-Quartey each hauled in a touchdown catch.

Jones-Quartey caught a 47-yard score while Brown had a 4-yard scoring catch.

Defensively, junior defensive back Demetrius Trapps and junior linebacker Brandon Butler led the way with 11 tackles a piece. 

Senior defensive back Donte Johnson addded nine tackles while junior defensive back Bryan Womack registered seven stops and an interception.

The Oilers will be back in action again next Saturday when they travel to Allendale, Michigan to take on Grand Valley State University at 7 pm.
