Oilers Split At Lake Erie

The University of Findlay baseball team split a double header with Lake Erie College on Saturday, April 27 in Painesville, Ohio.

The Oilers fell 4-1 in the first game, giving up all four runs in the fourth inning.

Findlay's lone run came in the top of the third when Joe Sickler walked to begin the inning and later scored on a sacrifice fly to right off the bat of Victor Migliore.

Darrell Thobe took the loss allowing four earned runs on six hits while striking out three. He is now 1-3 on the season.

The Oilers bounced back and took game two 10-3.

Findlay's big inning came in the second when five runs crossed the plate, including a three-run homer from Tommy Roush to score Migliore and Blake Schmenk.

Migliore finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI's and a double while Schmenk was 3-for-4 and scored twice.

Reid Rothenbuhler also chipped in with two hits, including a double, as well as two RBI's.

Ethan James picked up his fourth win of the season, giving up only one earned run on 10 hits while striking out five.

With the split, the Oilers move to 19-20 on the year with a 12-16 mark in GLIAC play. They will conclude their series with Lake Erie tomorrow.
