Simone Green Breaks 28-Year Old Triple Jump Record on Final Day of Alumni Classic

Results

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the Findlay Alumni Classic on Saturday, January 29 with a full day of competition inside the Malcolm Athletic Center in Findlay, Ohio. The Oilers men, ranked 11th in Division II, won the event in the team standings, scoring 170 points to outpace Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) foes Walsh, Tiffin, Ashland, and Malone. Findlay's women, ranked 17th in the country, also took first in the team standings, scoring 274.5 points, defeating conference opponents Ashland, Walsh, Malone, and Tiffin, respectively.

Men

The Oilers men got a one-two finish in the high jump, earning a pair of provisional marks, as well. Junior Cameron Stine earned the win in the event, clearing a height of 2.00m (6'6.75") while sophomore teammate Chris Cooper was runner-up with a jump of 1.95m (6'4.75").

In the 600m run, Findlay junior Xavier Marable took runner-up with a mark of 1:28.83, just two seconds behind teammate Ashton Seratto who was competing unattached.

The always electric 4x400m relay capped the two days of competition and it was the Oilers who came out on top in the race. Finishing in a time of 3:27.84 were junior Lane Kolb, freshman Isaac Webb, Marable, and freshman Dylan Reason.

Women

Sophomore Simone Green has been lights out this season and put together another incredible performance on Saturday afternoon. In the triple jump, Green became the first female in program history to eclipse the 12-meter mark, reaching a distance of 12.02m (39'05.25"). That effort eclipsed the previous mark of 11.98m by Kacie Lackey, a record which had stood since 1994. Her jump also set a new G-MAC record, as well, breaking her own mark of 11.83m set earlier this season. Green now owns the top three jumps in Great Midwest history.

After a provisional in the elite weight throw last night, sophomore Paige Emnett met the provisional mark in the elite shot put on Saturday. Facing some of the top throwers in the state, Emnett took third with a toss of 13.79m (45'03.00").

On the track, freshman Nicole Fishpaw, who was the top qualifier after the preliminaries, set a personal-best in the 60m dash by crossing the line in a time of 7.80. That time earned her top spot in the event.

Freshman Kylie Ray was able to secure a win in the 400m dash by finishing in a time of 1:00.15 while teammate, junior Hayley Robinett, would later go on to win in the 800m race, clocking in a time of 2:18.83.

Findlay showed some dominance in the 200m dash, as a quartet of Findlay freshman accounted for the top four spots in the race. Taylor Ivory (26.20), Cassie Warner (26.55), Nicole Fishpaw (26.56), and Alex Jacobs (26.86) all finished within a second of each other in the event.

In the one mile run, freshman Maya Hamsher finished in a time of 5:18.14, a career-best. After eight trips around the track, Hamsher edged out her competition by four-hundredths of a second.

The final event of the evening for the women was the 4x400m relay where Kylie Ray, sophomore Bethany Smith, Robinett, and Ivory teamed up to take first with a time of 4:02.03.
