Findlay Sweeps Tiffin on the Road

Tiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay volleyball team was on the road on Saturday, Oct. 21 for a contest against the Tiffin University Dragons. It was a quick 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-18) victory for the Orange and Black who improve to 15-6 overall and 8-3 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). With the loss Tiffin falls to 11-11 and 5-6 in the league.

Playing in their first conference game in two weeks, the Oilers jumped out to a good start, winning the first four points of the match and eventually taking an early 10-3 lead. Findlay maintained a ten-point lead for much of the set, ultimately going on to win the opening frame 25-16.

Tiffin finally took their first lead of the match in the second set, leading 3-2 early on. The score would be tied at 15-15 midway through the frame, but Findlay finished on a 10-3 run to secure the win.

Another big run in the third set, a run of seven consecutive points midway through, gave the Oilers a 19-12 lead and all but ended the Dragons hopes of extending the contest.

The Oilers finished the match with a team hitting percentage of .309 including a red-hot .531 percentage in the first set.

Sophomore Alana Pohlman led the way for Findlay, picking up 12 kills while hitting .556 on the night. Fellow sophomore middle Kenzie Hoelscher also played well, hitting .412 with ten kills. She added three blocks, as well.

Freshman Hannah Miller had 11 kills while hitting .476 and had eight digs and a team-high three aces.

Sophomore Emma White had 38 assists while junior Ava Doster led the team with nine digs.

The Oilers are back with a big time conference matchup against fellow G-MAC North foe Hillsdale College. That match will be Oct. 22 at 2:00 pm.
