Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay volleyball team took on the Thomas More Saints on Friday, Oct. 27 in Croy Gymnasium. The Oilers came away with a 3-1 (25-14, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18) victory and improve to 17-6 overall with a 10-3 record in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) while Thomas More falls to 4-19 with a 2-10 record in the league.
The Oilers opened play with a slow start, trailing 6-4 early on. However, a ten-point run by the Orange and Black put the home squad firmly in control of the opening set, taking a 15-6 lead and eventually a 25-14 victory.
After a lackluster second set, the Oilers found their groove again in the third, building up to a ten-point set victory at 25-15.
Scoring four of the first five points in the fourth got Findlay off to a good start in the match's final frame. Thomas More did pull to within one point on multiple occasions, but four consecutive points midway through gave the home team a 16-10 lead and eventually went on to a 25-18 win.
Findlay hit .248 in the match, picking up 52 kills on 129 attacks while Thomas More hit just .110, including hitting -0.08% in the first set and 0.00% in the third.Â
Freshman
Kirsten Bomholt led Findlay's offense with 15 kills on 35 attacks. She added a pair of blocks to her night, as well.
Sophomore
Lauren Foerster had ten kills and four blocks while freshman
Hannah Miller had ten kills, a block, and ten digs. Leading the team in digs was senior
Alissa Rhodes whoe had 16 on the night.
Sophomore
Alana Pohlman had eight kills and hit a team-high .412 on the night. She also led the squad with five blocks.Â
Sophomore
Emma White had 42 assists.
Findlay is back in action with a match tomorrow against Cedarville. That contest will begin at 4:00 pm in Croy Gymnasium.
