Hillsdale, Mich.- The University of Findlay volleyball team traveled to Hillsdale, Mich. to take on the Hillsdale College Chargers in the Great Midwest Tournament semifinals. The Oilers were defeated in three seeds by the top-seed (25-22, 25-16, 27-25). With the loss Findlay fell to 23-8 on the year with a 15-4 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Meanwhile the Chargers advance to the Great Midwest Tournament final with a 26-6 record and a 16-3 record in the league.
As a team the Oilers hit just .145 including .03 and .067 in the final two sets. They recorded 37 kills on 117 total attempts. Meanwhile, Hillsdale hit .205 recording 42 kills on 122 attempts.
Findlay was led by freshman Hannah Miller, who was named second team all-conference today. She recorded ten kills while hitting just .086. She also recorded eleven digs and one block.
Sophomore Alana Pohlman and freshman Kirsten Bomholt both recorded nine kills. Pohlman recorded a team-best hitting percentage at .444 while also leading the team with four blocks.
Running Findlay's offense was Emma White, who earned first team all-conference earlier today. She amassed 30 assists while also contributing twelve digs. Junior Ava Doster led the team in digs with 14.
With the win, Hillsdale remains perfect in G-MAC Tournament play at 20-0 since entering the conference in 2017. They will play for the Great Midwest Tournament title on Saturday, Nov. 18 as they look to win thier seventh consecutive championship.
With the loss, Findlay's fate is now in the hands of the NCAA. As of Wednesday, Nov. 15 the Oilers were ranked eighth in the Midwest Region with the top-eight teams advancing to the NCAA DII Midwest Women's Volleyball Regional. They will await the NCAA Selection Show, Monday, Nov. 20 in which the NCAA will reveal the top-eight teams after considering the final contests this weekend.
