Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Oilers Dominate Dearborn | Win 106-79

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's basketball team took on the University of Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines on Friday, Dec. 29 in Croy Gymnasium after a 12-day break from game action. The Oilers picked up a 106-79 victory in the final game of the calendar year, marking the second 100-point effort of the season and seventh such game in the series against Michigan-Dearborn. Friday's victory moves Findlay's record to 4-7 on the season while UM-Dearborn falls to 2-11 with the loss.

Playing the last non-conference game of the season, the Oilers dominated from the jump, starting the game on a 20-4 run. During that stretch, senior Cameron Shaw scored 13 points as the Oilers hit 8-of-12 from the floor including three triples by Shaw. That lead would continue to grow as Findlay, which is now a perfect 13-0 against the Wolverines all-time, built a 57-33 advantage at the half.

In the first 20 minutes, Findlay, which did not trail at any point during the game, hit 57% from the floor and out-rebounded UM-Dearborn 27-to-14.

The dominating effort would continue into the second half as the Oilers maintained a 20-point cushion for all but 1:47 of the final frame. Pulling the starters early in the period, Findlay would cruise through the final minutes, scoring 49 points in the final 20 minutes to secure the 27-point victory.

On the afternoon, the Oilers hit 44-of-77 from the floor (57%) including 11-of-29 (38%) from three-point range. Findlay dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Wolverines 46-to-30 including grabbing 13 offensive boards. Scoring in the paint was also a strength for the home team, putting up 64 points from the key while allowing just 30.

Making the start in place of injured Anthony Johnson, Cameron Shaw led the Oilers with 22 points in the strength of four made triples. He was one of six players to score double-figures. That scoring effort is the first 20-point game of his career at UF and his highest scoring game since his time with Ohio Valley University back in the 2020-21 season.

Freshman Will Aljancic poured in 14 points on the afternoon while senior Joey Edmonds scored 12 and senior Hayden Stone scored 11, a career-high. Edmonds led the team with six of the team's 21 assists, the third time this season that the Oilers have reached the 20-assist mark.

Sophomores Max Roth and Khalil Luster each scored ten points, as well, while sophomore Mason Brandt was the leading rebounder with six. Brandt also added six points.

Senior Nathan Bruns scored nine points in the game.

Findlay will be back in action on Thursday, January 4 when they play host to Lake Erie College. That game will tip off at 7:30 pm and begins a stretch of four consecutive Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) home games for the Orange and Black.
