Carmel, Ind.- The University of Findlay women's golf team kicked off their fall season today, Sept. 11 at the UIndy Fall Invitational. The tournament, which has opened the Oilers season for the last eight years, boasts some of the biggest names in Division II golf. Six teams in the top-25 are making their appearance this week, including number one ranked Dallas Baptist and number two ranked Lynn.
The Oilers finished day one with a 36-hole score of 593 (+17) and are currently in third place with rounds of 303 (+15) and 290 (+2). Findlay trails the leader, Lynn, by just four shots.
Leading the Oilers was junior Mary Kelly Mulcahy. The two time all-American, recorded rounds of 74 (+2) and 68 (-4) to leave herself at two-under par for the tournament. She is in solo second, trailing Grand Valley State's Olivia Stoll by just one shot. In her round of 68, Mulcahy recorded five birdies and one bogey.
