Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay volleyball team began conference play, Friday, Sep. 15 against the Malone Pioneers. The Oilers picked up the win over the Pioneers by a score of 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-19) and improve to 7-1 on the year and 1-0 in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). With the loss, Malone falls to 2-8 on the season and 0-1 in the G-MAC.
As a team, Findlay hit .326, picking up 44 kills and making 13 errors. The Oilers were able to hold Malone to a .108 hitting percentage. The Pioneers recorded just 24 kills with 14 errors.
The Oilers were once again led by the freshman duo of Kirsten Bomholt and
Hannah Miller. Bomholt recorded a team-high ten kills.She also led the team in service aces with four. Miller added nine kills of her own while hitting an impressive .389. She also recorded five digs and two blocks.
Sophomores Lauren Foerster and Alana Pohlman also played well for the Orange and Black. Foerster recorded a season-high eight kills in the contest while hitting a career best .417. Pohlman added seven kills for Findlay while hitting an impressive .538.
Running the offense was sophomore Emma White. White recorded 39 assists on the night. With White's assists tonight she officially ranks sixth in the nation for assists per set with 11.25.
Defensively, Ava Doster led the Oilers recording nine digs. Hannah Miller, Lauren Foerster, and sophomore Kenzie Hoelscher all added two blocks each.
With the win tonight, Findlay has now won five games in a row and remain undefeated in Croy Gymnasium.
The Oilers will be back in action, tomorrow, Sep. 16 at 1pm as they take on Walsh in another G-MAC matchup.
