Canton, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's basketball team took on the Malone University Pioneers in Canton, Ohio on Saturday, Jan. 20 and came away with a 64-48 victory. The win snaps a short two-game skid and has the OIlers back on track with a record of 7-10 overall and a 4-5 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). Malone falls to 9-9 overall and just 2-8 in the conference with Saturday's loss.
Findlay trailed 9-2 early, but over the next 8:57 went on a 24-3 run, hitting four triples in that stretch while holding Malone to just 1-of-10 from the floor and forcing the Pioneers into five turnovers.Â
Leading 30-24 at halftime, the Oilers scored the first six points of the second half to take a 12-point advantage. The Pioneers only pulled within ten points once in the remainder of the game as Findlay's stifling defense propelled the visitors to a 16-point victory.
The 48 points allowed are second-fewest this season for the Oilers as they held Malone to just 17-of-51 (.333) from the floor, 11 of which came from the three-point line.
Findlay managed 22-of-50 (44%) from the floor and held a 31-to-26 advantage on the glass. The Oilers also forced Malone into 14 turnovers, turning those miscues into 17 points while allowing just six points off turnovers of their own.

Will Aljancic scored ten points and grabbed 12 rebounds, the most by a Findlay player this year. It is Aljancic's second consecutive double-double and his third of the season.

The Oilers are back in action on Thursday, Jan. 25 with a game at Ohio Dominican. That contest will tip at 7:30 pm in Columbus, Ohio.
