Columbus, Ohio - The University of Findlay men's soccer team traveled to Columbus to take on the Ohio Dominican Panthers for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) match-up on Thursday, Oct. 3. After 90 minutes of back and forth play, the match ended in a 1-1 draw. With the tie, the Oilers record sits at 5-2-1 while the Panthers now stand at 0-6-2.
Scoring the lone goal for the Oilers was senior
Brendan Ash. With this goal in the 29th minute, Ash raised his goal total to four for the year. This lead would be short lived for Findlay as the Panthers responded with a goal of their own just 10 minutes later by way of Felipe Corral.
The match was scrappy throughout with six players receiving yellow cards, three of which given to the Oilers and three handed to the Panthers. Along with these cards, Findlay recorded eight fouls and Ohio Dominican ended the day with 10.
Despite only scoring one goal, the Oilers fired off 14 shots, seven of which being on goal. The Panthers were able to record five shots on goal, with reigning G-MAC athlete of the week
Keegan Grant turning away four of them.
The Oilers will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 5 when they travel to Midland to take on the Northwood Timberwolves at 3 pm.
