Women's Soccer Concludes Season in G-MAC Semifinal

Ashland, Ohio- After advancing directly to the semifinals of the 2024 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Women's Soccer Championship, the Oilers, seeded second in the event, fell to the number-three seed, Northwood University on Thursday, Nov. 14. Findlay fell to the Timberwolves by a score of 4-1, at Ferguson Field on the campus of Ashland University, which ultimately ends the season for the Orange and Black. The Oilers conclude their season with a 10-5-3 overall record and a 10-3-1 mark in the league. Meanwhile, Northwood will advance to Saturday's Final with a 13-2-5 record on the season and a 9-2-3 mark in the conference.

Findlay started strong, firing off three shots within the first four minutes before junior Sydney Noble, a first-team all-conference selection, found the net just 3:56 into the game, marking her eleventh goal of the season.

A foul on freshman Ashlyn Brown in the 15th minute granted Northwood prime field position, which they capitalized on to tie the game at 1-1. Just four minutes later, the Timberwolves reclaimed the lead with Brooke Honeycutt scoring again in the 20th minute, to bring the score to 2-1 at the half.

The Oilers started strong again, firing three shots in the first eight minutes. However, Northwood shifted the momentum in the 66th minute with Mari Jackson's goal, extending their lead to 3-1.

The Timberwolves sealed the game with a penalty kick following a handball in the box by senior Ellie Ramer, giving Northwood the 4-1 win and a trip to the G-MAC Women's Soccer Championship Final.

As a team, Findlay recorded 21 shots to Northwood's 12. Eleven of the Oiler's shots were on goal while the Timberwolves' had 5. The difference came in goal as Northwood's Lindsay Jacobs made ten saves while Findlay's junior Cat Graves made just one.
