Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Oilers Breeze Past Greyhounds | Win 69-50

Findlay, Ohio - The University of Findlay women's basketball team was back in action on Saturday, Nov. 23 in a non-conference matchup against the University of Indianapolis.  Backed by a strong defensive performance, the Oilers took down the Greyhounds by a score of 69-50.  With this victory, Findlay's record now stands at 5-2, while UIndy falls to 2-4.

The Oilers struggled out of the gate, trailing by 10 early as the result of some sloppy play on offense.  However, two three pointers from sophomore MacKenzie Schulz helped the offense kick into gear and helped Findlay escape the quarter with a one-point lead.  This end to the first quarter would set the tone for the rest of the game, as the Orange and Black would dominate the remaining 30 minutes.

Crucial in the victory was the defense from the Oilers, as they were able to hold the Greyhounds to single digit points in both the second and fourth quarters.  Findlay was able to force 22 turnovers, including 14 steals.

Providing a spark off the bench was MacKenzie Schulz, who was able to record her third career double double.  Schulz recorded a career high 22 points, shooting a very impressive 6-10 from beyond the arc.  Along with the strong offensive performance, she would top it off with a career high 11 rebounds.

Also scoring double digit points for the Oilers were seniors Kate Ellis and Janae Hoying, who scored 14 and 13 points, respectively.  Both would play stellar defense, with Ellis recording two blocks and two steals, while Hoying added two steals of her own.

The Oilers will be back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 26 at 7 pm when they travel to Dayton to take on Wright State University.  This game will be streamed on ESPN+.
