Tiffin, OH - The University of Findlay men's soccer team concluded play in the regular season on Wednesday, Nov. 6 against Tiffin University. The Dragons, who have locked up the title as regular season champions and the one seed in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) tournament, defeated the Oilers 1-0 in a closely contested match-up. Findlay finishes the regular season with a record of 10-3-4 overall and 8-2-4 in conference. Despite the loss, the Oilers still have earned themselves the second seed in the conference tournament, along with an important first round bye.
As would be expected from the regular season champions, the Tiffin offense came out firing, recording 23 shots during the contest. The Oilers, however, only managed to record six, with freshman
Tyson Woodring leading the team with two of his own. Despite the differential in shots, the orange and black held their own, preventing the Dragon offense from scoring until the 85th minute. Tiffin's Caleb Gibbons found the back of the net in what proved to be the difference maker in the contest.
Strong in net for the Oilers all game was keeper
Keegan Grant, who was kept busy throughout the game. Grant finished with 10 saves, which was a new season high for the junior.
The Oilers will be back in action on Thursday, Nov. 14 in the semifinals of the G-MAC tournament. The game will be played at Tiffin's Paradiso Field, with the kick-off time still to be announced.
