Men's Basketball Leaves Truman St. Shellshocked | Wins 97-73

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay men's basketball team cruised to a 97-73 victory over Truman State University on Saturday, Nov. 9 inside Niekamp Arena to improve to 2-0 on the season. Truman State, which was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) falls to 1-1 early in the year.

The Oilers, who scored 97 points in their win over Quincy University yesterday, shot 52.2 percent (35-of-67) from the floor and canned 12-of-29 (41.4%) of their attempts from behind the three point line. Their back-to-back 90-point performances marked the first time the program has done so since the 2019-20 campaign when they defeated Ohio Dominican University 93-73 and Tiffin University 93-75. It is also the most points in back-to-back games to start a season since the 2013-14 campaign.

As a team, Findlay put up 42 points in the paint and held a 41-22 advantage in bench points. They also forced 17 turnovers and came away with 12 steals in the victory.

Sophomore Will Aljancic paced the Oilers with 25 points, six rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals while freshman Ian Ioppolo had 15 points and converted 3-of-6 attempts from three point range.

Sophomore Anthony Johnson added 13 points and five rebounds while junior Jagger Landers had 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

Junior Max Roth nearly reached double figures with eight points to go along with six assists while junior Mason Brandt had eight points and three rebounds.

The Trojans meanwhile were led by Trey Shearer's 20 points. Kobi Williams added 19.

The Oilers will be back in action again on Thursday, Nov. 14 when they host the University of Northwestern Ohio at 7pm inside Niekamp Arena.
