Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Slow Start Flummoxes Findlay | Fall 84-65 at TMU

Crestview Hills, Kentucky - The University of Findlay men's basketball team was beaten on the road on Thursday, Feb. 15 by the Thomas More University Saints by a final of 84-65. That loss gives the Oilers a 10-13 record with a 7-8 mark in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) while TMU moves to 15-9 overall and 10-6 in the league.

Findlay's start was less than ideal as the Saints scored the first seven points of the game to take control early. Their lead reached 12 points, 15-3, just five minutes into the contest.

The last time the game was within single-digits came with 13:18 to play in the first half when the Oilers cut the deficit to nine at 17-8, but TMU then went on a 13-4 run to take a 30-12 lead with ten minutes to play in the half.

That advantage ballooned to as much as 30 points at 75-45 with 8:45 remaining in the game. With that big lead, the Saints cruised to a 19-point victory on their home floor.

Thomas More took advantage of the three-point line, making 13-of-25 (52%) from deep while the OIlers made just 6-of-19 (32%) from beyond the arc. The Oilers were outrebounded 42-to-31 in the game, as well.

Senior Cameron Shaw was the leading scorer, dropping 15 points on the strength of four made triples. Freshman Will Aljancic scored eight points and led the team with seven rebounds.

Sophomore Max Roth chipped in nine points off the bench while senior Joey Edmonds and freshman Anthony Johnson each scored seven.

Findlay hits the road to take on Cedarville University this Saturday. That game will tip at 4:15 pm and can be seen on the Great Midwest Digital Network.
