Findlay Falls to Hillsdale on the Road 73-61

Hillsdale, Mich.- The University of Findlay women's basketball team hit the road on Thursday, Feb. 29 for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) matchup against the Hillsdale College Chargers. Despite leading through the first ten minutes of play, the Oilers would come up short by a score of 73-61 and fall to 14-13 on the year with a 10-9 mark in the league. With the win, Hillsdale improves to 16-11 and 12-7 in the G-MAC.

Hillsdale jumped out to an early lead scoring the first seven points of the contest. A three-pointer by senior Lauren Hapgood put the Oilers on the board for the first time but Findlay remained down by nine through four minutes. However, Findlay put together a 15-2 run over the next six minutes to put the Orange and Black ahead by four.

The second quarter wreaked havoc for Findlay as Hillsdale outscored them 24-11 in the frame. The Chargers would hold a nine point lead heading into the half thanks to a long range buzzer-beater by Hillsdale's Sydney Pnacek.

The third quarter saw back-and-forth action as the Oilers were never able to come closer than nine. The Chargers held a thirteen point lead heading into the final quarter, a lead that they never relinquished, picking up a twelve point lead.

On the night Findlay was 21-of-64 (32.8%) from the field including 6-of-30 (20.0%) from three. Meanwhile, HIllsdale recorded 28-of-56 (50.0%) from the floor and 8-of-21 (38.1%) from long. Findlay won the rebounding battle, grabbing 45 to Hillsdale's 36.
