Tiffin, Ohio - The University of Findlay baseball team traveled east to take on the Tiffin University Dragons on Tuesday, March 26 for a Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) contest and came away with a 14-8 victory. Battling gusts of more than 30 MPH, the Oilers' win improves their record to 14-10 overall and 8-1 in the G-MAC while Tiffin falls to 9-14 with a 4-5 mark in league play.
Findlay got on top early, taking a 2-1 lead through two innings of play before a pair of runs in the third by Tiffin put the home team ahead for the first time.
In the top of the fourth, back-to-back hit batters and a walk loaded the bases for the Oilers, all with no outs. A sac fly by senior
Aiden Lao brough the first run of the inning home and an RBI ground out by sophomore
Keelan Daniel scored the second, giving the Orange and Black a 4-3 advantage. That was short-lived as the Dragons scored twice in the fourth to regain a 5-4 lead.
The fifth inning would be the game's turning point. Findlay would get a leadoff double from senior
Nate Brooks and, following a walk to sophomore
Casey Maruniak, Brooks stole third and scored on an error. A double by sophomore
Andrew Williams made the score 6-5 and six batters later, now leading 7-5, a two-RBI single by senior
Cam Farrar gave the Oilers a four-run cushion.
Tiffin scored twice in the sixth, but Findlay answered with two in the seventh, two in the eighth, and one in the ninth, never allowing the Dragons a comeback bid.
It was a full pitching staff kind of day as the Oilers threw six arms on the mound. Senior
Logan Bragg, who yesterday was named the G-MAC Pitcher of the Week, started and threw just one inning. The win would go to freshman
Aiden Weiland who pitched in the fourth inning and was in the game when Findlay put up five in the top of the fifth. Freshman
Colin Becker, freshman

Carson Mellott, and senior
Sebastian Jones all saw time on the mound.
Lao was the one of the leaders offensively, picking up three hits, including a double, scoring two runs and driving in four. Brooks, who is riding a five-game hit streak, and Williams also had three hits including a double. Both added one RBI and one run scored.Â
FreshmanÂ
