Findlay Splits with Thomas More

Crestview Hills, Ky.- The University of Findlay's softball team traveled south to take on the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) newcomers, Thomas More. The Saints took game one 6-3 before the Oilers regrouped to take a dominant 10-0 win in the night cap. With the split, the Oilers move to 15-15 on the season with a 2-6 mark in the conference. Meanwhile, Thomas More moves to 6-22 on the year and a 1-7 record in the league.

Game One (L 6-3)
Findlay got on the board first in the contest as senior Avery Shepherd led off with a single to right field. She was later sent home by sophomore Alexys Antal. Thomas More would tie the game in the bottom of the second with a run of their own. 

The Oilers put up two runs in the top of the third. The inning started with senior Alissa Davis' double before she later advanced to third. Antal walked and then advanced to second. Sophomore Kora Navarro hit a single up the middle to send both Davis and Antal home to put Findlay up 3-1.

Thomas More scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Those four runs came on two hits. The Saints added another run in the bottom of the sixth to bring the score to 6-3 before later taking the win. 

Sophomore Kayla Dykin took the loss for Findlay, pitching 3.1 innings. She allowed five runs on three hits. She struck out two and walked four. Senior Molly Pfiffner relieved Dykin, pitching the final 2.2 innings. She allowed just one run on two hits. 

Shepherd was two-for-four from the plate and scored one run. Navarro's single proved to be crucial as she recorded two RBIs from the one hit. 

Game Two (W 10-0)
The Oilers got off to a hot start in the first inning, recording six runs on six hits. Shepherd was the first to score after she was sent home by senior Kaitlynn Briggs' single. Davis then was sent home on an error by TMU's second baseman. Briggs, Antal, Dykin, and senior Meghan Burke all crossed home plate in the inning. 

In the third the Oilers added two more runs thanks to a single by freshman Joslynne Frazier. 

Findlay's two runs in the top of the fifth put the Oilers ahead 10-0 and eventually forced the run-rule victory.

Antal took the win in the circle, pitching all five innings. She allowed no runs on just two hits. She struck out five and walked just two.

Sophomore Jenna Poulson was three-for-three from the plate while scoring two runs. Frazier recorded two RBIs while going two-for-three. Davis also had two hits, one of which included a double. Freshman Korah Nash also recorded a double.

The Oilers will be back in action Saturday, March 30 as they travel to the Cedarville Yellow Jackets for a double header. Game one will begin at 12pm with game two to follow.
