Findlay Wins Folds of Honor Challenge | M.K. Mulcahy Wins Individual Title

Earn Invitation to the 2025 Folds of Honor Intercollegiate

Allendale, Mich.- The University of Findlay women's golf team, ranked third in the country, won the Folds of Honor Challenge on Tuesday, Sep. 17 at the Meadows of Grand Valley State University. Trailing the host, Grand Valley State, after two days the Oilers fired a final round 290 (+6) to edge out the Lakers by two strokes. The rounds of rounds of 306 (+22), 297 (+13), and 290 (+6) gave them a 54-hole total of 893 (+41). With the win, Findlay earned an invitation to compete at the 2025 Folds of Honor Intercollegiate held at American Dunes Golf Club in Grand Haven, Michigan.

Leading Findlay was senior Mary Kelly Mulcahy. The Lima, Ohio native won the event with scores of 73 (+2), 71 (E), and 69 (-2) for a 54-hole score of 213 (E). This marks her first win of the season and eleventh career win.

Obviously, as a team it was not the best week but it was enough to get the job done. I do think that we played really well down the stretch. There are a lot of positives to take from this week to bring into the [William] Beall [Fall Classic]. This is such a big deal for the team. Winning this event qualified us for the Folds [of Honor Intercollegiate] next year at American Dunes. That tournament is such a cool opportunity for the program and a really big deal.
Today, I really just focused on myself and tried to control the controllables- my attitude and commitment. I knew that if I just stayed to that, it would be good enough so I just played my game. I also made a couple of good up and downs and putts to stay in it.

Sophomore Ashleigh Duflo and senior Erin Mulcahy both finished in the top-10.

We didn't have our best stuff this week but there is no quit in these girls! The way they finish to come out on top was awesome to see. This is a huge accomplishment for our program to be able to play in the Folds of Honor Intercollegiate next year against the top teams in Division I, especially in such a special event. As for Mary Kelly, she was her usual self and just never gives in. It was a great individual win for her.

The Oilers will be back in action at Findlay Country Club, Sep. 30- Oct. 1 as they host the William Beall Fall Classic.
