Springfield, Illinois- The University of Findlay women's soccer team opened their season against the Illinois Springfield Prairie Stars. After a hard-fought battle, the Oilers came back with a goal in the final 12 minutes to tie the match. With the tie the Oilers start their season 0-0-1 and the Prairie Stars stand at 0-0-1.
UIS would score their lone goal in the first half of the match. However, that would not be enough for them to hold onto the win. With just 12 minutes left in play junior Sydney Noble would score the solo goal for the Oilers to tie the season opener.
The Oilers led the match with 15 shots, seven being on target, while the Prairie Stars only had nine shots with six being on target. Junior goalkeeper Cat Graves entered the game in the second half to shut down the UIS offense recording four saves.
The Oilers will be back in action Friday, Sep. 13 at 1pm as they travel to Big Rapids, Michigan to face off against the Ferris State Bulldogs.
