Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay volleyball team was back at home for the first time in nearly a month on Friday, Oct. 24, welcoming the Ursuline College Arrows to Croy Gynmasium. The Oilers delivered with a win in straight sets (25-16, 25-20, 25-19) an improved to 15-3 on the year with a 7-1 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play. Ursuline's struggles continue, dropping to 0-20 (0-9 G-MAC).
Findlay held the advantage from the start, jumping out to a 14-6 lead. Back-to-back aces from senior Emma White sealed the set victory.
The Oilers never trailed in the second set, building a 21-12 lead. Ursuline rallied a bit, outscoring UF 8-to-3 to stay alive at 24-20. However, a big swing by senior Makenna Belcher ended the threat as the Oilers went up two sets to none.
Sophomore Lilly Barhorst led the way in the third and final set, picking up four kills in the 25-19 victory. The match was clinched on a service ace by White, her sixth of the match.
Findlay dominated the stat sheet in the win, hitting .354 as a team while racking up 45 kills while holding the Arrows to just a .213 hitting percentage.
Sophomore Grace Auer led the team with seven kills and a block while senior Lauren Foerster, the reining G-MAC North Player of the Week, also had seven kills while hitting .700. Freshman Victoria Mescher and Belcher each tallied six kills and Barhorst and junior Abria Lomax each had five.
To go along with her six service aces, Emma White led the team with 36 assists and 11 digs.
Findlay is back in action tomorrow, Oct. 25 with a game against Lake Erie College. That contest starts at 4:00 pm.
