#23 Findlay Overpowers Ferris State in 102–70 Rout

Box Score Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay men's basketball team, ranked 23rd in the country, started the season with a statement win at home, defeating Ferris State 102-70 inside Croy Physical Education Center on Wednesday, Nov. 19. From the opening tip, Findlay dictated the pace, built a commanding lead, and never wavered. The Oilers displayed their depth, efficiency, and defensive energy as they moved to 3-0 on the season.

Findlay exploded out of the gate with a 59-point first half, shooting 54.5% from the field and forcing Ferris State into 14 turnovers before the half. The Oilers' relentless attack in the paint and transition game overwhelmed the Bulldogs, who never led at any point. Findlay's largest lead stretched to 46 points midway through the second half, fueled by a balanced scoring effort and stifling defense. The Oilers dominated inside with 58 points in the paint and converted 28 fast-break points, while their bench contributed 46 points to seal the 102–70 victory.

The Oilers finished the night shooting 49.4% from the field (39-of-79), including 8-of-32 from beyond the arc. Ferris State hit 24-of-69 shots (34.8%), went 6-of-24 from deep. Findlay dominated transition and interior play, scoring 58 points in the paint compared to Ferris State's 32, and outpaced the Bulldogs 28-10 in fast-break points. While Ferris State held a slight edge on the glass, Findlay's defensive pressure forced 21 turnovers and limited second-chance opportunities. Bench production was another key factor, with the Oilers' reserves outscoring Ferris State's 46-32.

Senior Mason Brandt led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting, while Sophomore Ian Ioppolo added 15 points and four boards. Senior Mekhi Elmore chipped in 12 points and three assists, and junior Anthony Johnson contributed 10 points and four assists while going a perfect 4-for-4 from the stripe. 

Findlay will look to keep its momentum rolling they continue non-conference on Saturday, Nov. 22 as they take on Gannon at 5pm inside Niekamp Arena.
