Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Oilers Dominate Early, Cruise to 75–52 Win Over Edinboro

Findlay, Ohio- The University of Findlay women's basketball team returned to the win column with a dominant 75–52 victory over Edinboro University on Saturday, Nov. 22, inside Croy Physical Education Center. Powered by a balanced offensive effort and strong defense, the Oilers controlled the game from start to finish, improving to 3-1 on the season while Edinboro drops to 1-6.

Findlay exploded out of the gate with a 13–4 run fueled by hot shooting from deep (7-of-9 from three). Lauryn Auchmuty was perfect from beyond the arc, scoring 12 points in the period. The Oilers shot 64.3% overall and led by as many as 16 points.

The pace slowed as both teams tightened defensively. Findlay maintained control with timely baskets and strong rebounding, while Edinboro found some success attacking the paint. Despite Edinboro's effort to chip away, Findlay's defense held firm, limiting second-chance opportunities. The Oilers entered halftime with a 19-point cushion, leading 40–21.

Findlay delivered the decisive blow in the third, starting with a 13–0 run that pushed the lead past 30 points. The Oilers dominated in transition and continued to shoot efficiently, hitting 60% from the field and 50% from three. Their defense forced turnovers that led to easy scores, and Edinboro struggled to find any offensive rhythm, shooting just 14.3% in the period.

Edinboro closed strong, outscoring Findlay in the final frame with aggressive drives and free throws. The Fighting Scots put together an 8–0 run midway through the quarter, but the Oilers' early dominance ensured the outcome was never in doubt. Findlay used the period to rotate players and manage the clock, finishing with a comfortable 23-point victory.

The Oilers dominated statistically, shooting an impressive 52.9% from the field (27-of-51) and 54.5% from three-point range (12-of-22), while converting 90% of their free throws (9-of-10). The Oilers controlled the glass with 38 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, and added 18 assists to fuel their efficient offense. They also scored 38 bench points, showing depth across the roster. Edinboro, meanwhile, finished at 35.3% from the field (18-of-51) and 27.3% from three (3-of-11), with 68.4% from the line (13-of-19), and managed just 21 rebounds.

Individually for Findlay, balanced scoring was the story: freshman Lauryn Auchmuty led with 15 points on a perfect 5-of-5 from deep, while junior MacKenzie Schulz added ten points and two steals, and senior Alyssa Ziehler contributed nine points and five assists. The Oilers had nine players score, with significant contributions from the bench.

The Orange and Black will be back in action Tuesday, Nov. 25 as they welcome #1 Grand Valley State to Croy Physical Education Center. That game is scheduled for a 4pm tip.
