Weihrauch and Stokes Named All-Region by D2CCA

Findlay, Ohio - The Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) released their football all-region selections on Thursday, Dec. 4 to each of the four super regions in the country. In Super Region III, Findlay had two players selected as graduate senior linebacker Sam Weihrauch was named first team and senior cornerback Christion Stokes was named second team.

With his first team selection, Weihrauch will move on to the all-American ballot which will be announced on Wednesday, Dec. 18, three days before the NCAA DII National Championship game.

One of the most production linebackers in program history, Weihrauch, also the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Defensive Player of the Year, is a first team all-region performer for the first time in his career. He is the first linebacker at Findlay to be named D2CCA all-region since Dion Harvey was named second team in 2007 and the first first-team selection since Cody Cramer in 2003. This year Weihrauch led a defense that was one of the best in the country all season long. Starting all 12 games, he racked up 80 total tackles (45 solo) and set the tone behind the line of scrimmage with 17.5 tackles-for-loss, the most by any Findlay player since 2007 and the highest single-season mark by a linebacker in the program's NCAA era. He also added 4.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble, while contributing eight quarterback hurries.

A two-time first team all-G-MAC selection, Christion Stokes is now an all-region honoree for the first time. Stokes is the sixth defensive back to earn all-region honors and just the third in the G-MAC era of the program. The Detroit, Michigan native had 47 tackles including 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, and a team-high 12 pass breakups, tied for second-most in the G-MAC. This season, Stokes played a critical role in a defense that allowed just 57.4 rush yards per game during the regular season, second-fewest in the country, and was also top-five in DII in total defense (249.7), scoring defense (12.2), and fourth down conversion defense (.267).
