Softball Drops G-MAC Doubleheader vs. Tiffin

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay softball team took on the Tiffin University Dragons on Friday, March 21 at the Marathon Diamonds in Findlay, Ohio. The Oilers dropped both games of day that was dominated by pitching, losing the opener 2-0 before falling in the finale 4-1. With the split, Findlay is now 15-7 on the year with a 2-2 record in Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) play while the Dragons improve to 18-8 overall and start the league season with a 2-0 record.

Game 1 (L 2-0 | Box Score)
A squandered opportunity in the second inning proved costly for Findlay in the day's opener when a leadoff walk and an error put runners on the corners with just one out for the Orange and Black. The runner, Aurora Lescody, took off for second, but Tiffin cut off the throw and caught pinch runner Brooke Swavel in a rundown. Swavel was tagged out on the play and the next batter, junior Kora Navarro flew out to center to end the threat.

Back-to-back doubles by the Dragons in the fourth put TU on the board first. That would prove to be enough as the Oilers finished the game with just one hit.

Junior Alexys Antal took the loss in the circle, falling to 2-3 on the year. She allowed just two earned runs in seven innings.

Game 2 (L 4-1 | Box Score)
The second game was similar with neither team getting on the scoreboard until midway through the contest. It was Tiffin on the board first, scoring three runs in the top of the fourth inning.

An RBI double in the sixth off the bat of junior Annika Bredel finally got the Oilers a run, but that would not be enough as TU went on to secure a 4-1 victory.

Junior Kayla Dykin took the loss, her first of the year, to fall to 6-1 in the circle this season. She tossed five innings and allowed three runs on three hits.

Inside the Box Score
Anna Jones had two hits and a walk on the day while Antal and Bredel each had hits, as well.

Findlay is on the road tomorrow, Saturday, March 22 for a doubleheader against the Ohio Dominican Panthers.
