Oilers Drop Rubber Match vs Seton Hill

Cincinnati, Ohio - The University of Findlay baseball team was back in action on Sunday, Mar. 8 for the last game in their series against Seton Hill University.  With the help of an offensive outburst, along with some Findlay errors, the Griffins would take the rubber match by a score of 11-1.  With the loss, the Oilers fall to 6-7.  Meanwhile, Seton Hill sees their record rise to 8-3.

Despite the final score, the first few innings of play were very competitive.  Seton Hill would get on the board in the bottom of the first inning after an Oilers fielding error, giving them a 1-0 advantage.  Findlay would respond in the next inning, as Theo Winings roped a ball to left to score Keelan Daniel, who led off the inning with a single.

Starting on the hill for the Oilers, Carson Mellott was able to tight rope out of danger the first few innings of play.  However, the Griffins would break through in the bottom of the fourth for two runs, all coming with two outs.  Mellott would finish his day after four innings of work, giving up four runs on eight hits.

The rest of the game would be all Seton Hill, as they were able to put up three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to put the game out of reach for the Oilers.

Quick Stats
Leading the offense for the Oilers was catcher Theo Winings.  The junior would record two hits on the day, along with having the lone RBI for the Findlay offense.

Junior Mike Sciortino would also have a hit in the contest, giving him a hit in every game of the series and extending his hit streak to four games.
