Owensboro, Ky. – The University of Findlay men's tennis team saw it's Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament run come to an end on Saturday, April 26 in the championship match, losing 4-0 to the top-seeded Tiffin University Dragons. That defeat ends the Oilers season with a 12-9 record.
This is the third time in four years that Findlay has made a conference championship appearance, all three of which have ended in defeat.
Findlay began the afternoon with a loss at third doubles which was followed shortly by a loss at first doubles. That gave TU that doubles point and a 1-0 lead.
In singles, the first contest to finish was the sixth spot where
Runa Kagoshima suffered defeat. Less than 20 minutes later, Tiffin claimed another point at fourth singles to take a 3-0 lead.
At fifth singles,
Matthis Veniard won the first set and was leading 4-1 in the second when the contest ended. Similarly, at first singles,
Soh Kuyama battled back from a first set defeat and was a game away from forcing a third set against Martin Dreisner, the 2025 G-MAC Player of the Year.
Luigi Bove was leading 2-0 in the third set of his match at second singles as well after winning his first set 6-4 and losing the second 2-6.
None of that would matter, however, as Tiffin clinched the title with a win at third singles.
