Findlay Oilers (24-25, 16-14 G-MAC) | #4 Seed
2025 Findlay Baseball Coaching Staff

At the close of the regular season, the Oilers hold a 24-25 overall record (.490) and a 16-14 mark (.533) in conference play. Initially projected to finish fourth in the North Division in the preseason poll, Findlay surpassed expectations by securing third place in the divisional standings. They'll begin postseason play against fifth-seeded Hillsdale.

The Oilers enter the tournament with a .261 team batting average, tenth-best in the conference. Their 386 hits rank eighth, while their .386 slugging percentage is ninth overall. Defensively, Findlay holds a .963 fielding percentage, good for sixth in the conference.

Key Players

Sophomore infielder Luke Senften leads the Oilers with a .345 batting average and a .424 on-base percentage. Starting all 49 games, he's totaled 59 hits—including 13 doubles and five home runs—and has scored 34 runs, solidifying his role as Findlay's most consistent offensive threat.

Junior right fielder Casey Maruniak has battled injury but continues to standout. In 39 starts, he's hitting .341 with 46 hits, a team-high eight home runs, and 34 runs scored. His .563 slugging percentage ranks eighth in the conference, and he's been electric on the base paths—stealing 37 bases in 39 attempts. His 30th steal of the season broke a 50-year-old program record, and with 72 career swipes, he now holds the all-time stolen base record at Findlay. Nationally, he ranks 13th in Division II in stolen bases this season.

Juniors Gavyn Smith (.271) and Theo Winings (.261) rank third and fourth on the team in batting average. Smith has recorded 36 hits in 133 at-bats, including six doubles, two triples, and five home runs.

Senior catcher Austin Adelman has been a steady presence behind the plate, contributing a .229 average with 22 hits in 96 at-bats, including six extra-base hits.

Pitching Staff

Junior left-handed pitcher Carson Mellott leads the Oilers' pitching staff with a 5.68 ERA, a 5-5 record, and 45 strikeouts over 57 innings. A reliable arm throughout the season, Mellott has surrendered just two home runs—fifth fewest in the conference.

Junior right-handed pitcher Ethan Mohr has been a workhorse for Findlay, leading the team with 59.1 innings pitched. He enters the tournament with a 3-5 record and ranks tenth in the G-MAC with 58 strikeouts. Mohr has also caught 23 batters looking, the sixth-most in the conference.

Freshman right-hander Camdon Tuttle has been a standout out of the bullpen for the Oilers, leading the conference with nine saves. Over 33 innings, he has allowed just 27 hits and nine runs while racking up 38 strikeouts and posting an impressive 2.18 ERA.

Quote from Head Coach Matt Palm

We need to enjoy this opportunity. There is no better time of the year than tournament time. The tournament is a gauntlet. The team that plays complimentary baseball in all phases will be in a great position. Each game will be unique to the others, and we need to be willing to do whatever it takes to win that game.
