Baseball Drops G-MAC Tournament Opener vs Hillsdale

Mason, Ohio – The University of Findlay baseball team opened up play at the 2025 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Tournament which is hosted at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio. The Oilers, the fourth seed in the event, took on the fifth-seeded Hillsdale College Chargers on Legacy Field, one of two facilities within the complex. Findlay lost by a score of 12-2 and will take on the Tiffin Dragons in the Pool B consolation bracket tomorrow with the season on the line.

The Oilers got behind early as the Chargers scored three runs in the first inning, two of which came on a two-RBI triple.

Sophomore Nick Palm singled to leadoff the bottom of the inning and, after a walk, he scored on a hit by sophomore Luke Senften. The next frame, the Oilers cut the score to 3-2 when freshman Garret Given, who had a one out single, scored on a fielder's choice.

That would be the end of Findlay's scoring for the game as Hillsdale scored nine unanswered runs to secure the ten-run victory.

Findlay finished the game with two runs on ten hits while Hillsdale had 12 runs on 13 hits. The Oilers stranded ten runners on base in the game.

Junior starter Carson Mellott took the loss on the hill, throwing 3.2 innings and allowing five runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out one.

Palm, sophomore Aiden Booth, and senior Austin Adelman each had two hits in the game.

Findlay and Tiffin will square off tomorrow at 2:45 on Legacy Field. The winner will stay in play in Pool B of the tournament and the loser will go home.
