Junior Emily Mears-Bentley put together a historic season for the Oilers, helping lead the team to a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships—the highest in program history. She was named a first team all-American in five events: the 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly, 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 400 freestyle relay, while also earning second team all-American honors in the 100 freestyle and 200 IM. Mears-Bentley was named the 2025 G-MAC Athlete of the Year and was dominant at the G-MAC/MEC Championships, where she was named Swimmer of the Meet after capturing seven event titles. She won individual G-MAC championships in the 200 IM, 100 butterfly, 200 butterfly, and 100 freestyle, and helped guide the Oilers to victories in the 400 medley relay, 800 free relay, and 400 free relay. A first team all-G-MAC selection, she capped her year by setting a new program record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 49.82 at the national meet. Mears-Bentley also excelled in the classroom and was later named a CSC Academic All-American after earning Academic All-District honors from the College Sports Communicators.
