Oilers Fall 3-1 Against Saginaw Valley State

Findlay, Ohio – The University of Findlay women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Saginaw Valley State University on Saturday, Sept. 13, at DeHaven Field. Despite outshooting the Cardinals and generating consistent pressure, the Oilers were unable to capitalize on enough of their chances in the loss. This moves the Oilers record to 1-1-2 overall and Saginaw Valley to 2-1-1.

The match started on the back foot for Findlay as Saginaw Valley struck just 42 seconds into play. The Oilers quickly regrouped and found the equalizer in the 18th minute when senior Sydney Noble buried a shot to make it 1-1. From there, Findlay controlled possession and chances but couldn't find a go-ahead goal.

With less than two minutes left in the first half, Saginaw Valley reclaimed the lead, sending Findlay into the break trailing 2-1. In the second half, the Oilers continued to push forward, tallying 14 total shots with 10 on target, but the Cardinals added insurance in the 68th minute to put the game away.

Statistically, Findlay held the advantage, outshooting Saginaw Valley 14-7 and earning a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. Senior Sydney Noble led the attack with four shots, all on frame, while senior Payton Miller added two shots on goal.

Findlay will look to bounce back on Thursday, Sept. 18, when they open G-MAC play on the road against Cedarville.
