Findlay Oilers (3-0, 1-0 G-MAC)
2025 Findlay Football Coaching Staff
Home for the third time in four weeks, Findlay is looking to continue its' win streak to four games to start the 2025 season. It would be the second consecutive year that the Oilers started a year 4-0 but just the third time that would happen since the program joined the NCAA.Â
While not the highest scoring team in the league, the Oilers remain as one of just three teams that are unbeaten in the league and own what is the most impressive win thus far, a Week 1 victory over Indianapolis which is still nationally ranked at #22 in the country. The Oilers have shown an ability to put the ball in the end zone when they need it most and last week, scored in all three phases of the game including a touchdown on punt coverage, an interception return for a touchdown, and a pair of passing touchdowns.
A first quarter injury to Chase Harrison led to nearly a full game's worth of experience for true freshman Andrew Leonard who was up to the task. He would complete 17 passes for 195 yards and two scores against the Storm in a 30-point victory. Now with Harrison and Leonard, the Oilers now have a pair of quarterbacks with experience running the offense as the G-MAC slate of games continues.
Linebackers Sam Weihrauch and Kevin Henderson lead a Findlay defense that has been stingy over the past couple of weeks, allowing just three points in each of the previous two games, not giving up a touchdown since Week 1. The team's 41 points allowed through three games are the fewest in the first three weeks of a season since the spring season of 2021 and the fewest to open a full-length fall season since 2009. Weihrauch leads the team with 22 tackles and 3.5 tackles-for-loss while Henderson is second with 16 tackles. The Oilers have allowed just 811 total yards, the second-fewest in the G-MAC among teams that have played three games.

About the Opponent – Thomas More (0-3, 0-1 G-MAC)
Now in its' first official season as a full-fledged Division II member, the Thomas More Saints are looking to improve on what has been three consecutive 5-win seasons. The year started with a pair of games against Division 1 FCS opponents in Southern Illinois and Dayton. Each of those games ended in a lopsided loss. Last week was the first G-MAC game for TMU and that too ended in a loss, although it was much closer as the Saints lost to Northwood by a score of 10-6. Week 4 at Findlay will be Thomas More's fourth consecutive road game to start the season.
Still yet to score a touchdown this season, TMU is averaging just 3.0 points per game, owning the lowest PPG and total offensive output in the league. In fact, the team's 3.0 ppg ranks last among all 157 teams in Division II. The team's 221.7 yards per game is 54 yards lower than KWC which ranks ninth. Â Part of the team's struggles come from the departure three of the four all-G-MAC performers from last year as punter Eligin Phillips, tight end Mike Kirch, and defensive lineman Tanner Lawrence either graduated or transferred. The lone all-conference returner is a second team pick, offensive lineman Cam Weil who is back for his senior season at TMU.Â
All that being the case, in their first test against a DII opponent, the Saints held Northwood, which scored 38 points the week prior, to just ten points. With a defense that stout, a couple explosive plays on offense can make a massive impact in the outcome of any game.
Leading the defense is sophomore linebacker Elijah Manning. He has made 35 tackles so far this season, the most in the G-MAC and fifth-most in Division II. Sophomore defensive back Avery Bodner has 22 stops and linebacker Tofa Luani has 18 including 2.0 tackles-for-loss.Â
The offense will be led by sophomore Griffin Scalf who has completed 47-of-86 passes for 419 yards. He has yet to throw a touchdown pass and has been intercepted four times, part of a turnover ratio of -9 which ranks 154th in the country. Â On the ground, junior Eli White has been the bell cow, toting the ball 47 times for 163 yards.
